AEROSPACE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

The Aerospace Professional Development Program (APDP) is designed to assist in critical professional decision-making through mentoring, scholarships and career advancement opportunities. 

Seasoned industry veterans from government and commercial sectors, all OBAP members, provide career guidance through workshops, one-to-one coaching and roundtable discussions to nearly 4,000 aspiring aerospace professionals each year.

OBAP’s diverse membership of aviation professionals are strongly encouraged to provide guidance through APDP to young adults, particularly those who have participated in OBAP’s youth-related initiatives, and serve as unwavering support as they initiate new aviation careers.  

The “cradle to career” commitment to engaging young adults from initial exposure to aerospace through youth-related programs, including the ACE Academy, to ongoing APDP engagement has served as a vital strategy to positively impacting the projected aerospace employment needs with a diverse group of qualified young aviators.

Through APDP, the organization has offered nearly $5 million in scholarships to more than 470 diverse recipients to offset the costs for college tuition or STEM-related training. Also through APDP, the organization implements a Spring Career Fair held annually in Las Vegas with more than 30 carriers and 400 participants in attendance. The Annual National Convention and Career Fair each summer invites an estimated 1,100 participants to meet and network with every major international and domestic carrier. 

First Officer Quentin Myers attributes the dedication and rigorous preparation given by members of APDP to his being fully prepared to excel in an interview with Delta Air Lines and ultimately land the job.
